  • Constructed by Mathews/Taylor the 63,000 sq. ft., 5 story hotel consists of 106 guest rooms on floors 2 to 5 with a 40 seat dining area, full commercial kitchen, two conference rooms, and a fitness center with general hotel services located on the first floor.  The exterior features 5,000 sq. ft. brick pool patio and dining terrace, spa, fountains, and extensive landscaping.  The property is located directly on the Peace River/Charlotte Harbor and is highlighted by an 800 foot waterfront promenade constructed using brick pavers with concrete banding along with pedestrian lighting and decorative handrails.  The site is developed for three additional multi story buildings and large marina facility.

  • The full service facility completed under a design-build process totals 25,298 sq ft. and contains the follows components to enhance and further the church ministry: 900 fixed seat sanctuary along with another 90 seats for choir and orchestra on the platform; full compliment of state of the art lighting, sound and acoustical systems throughout the entire facility; separate fellowship area and full commercial kitchen for seating up to 300; choir practice room and classrooms with ability to change from three to seven rooms depending on need; 330 vehicle parking using combination of hard and soft surfaces.

  • The spring training facility was a design build re-construction project by Hunt/Mathews/Taylor working with the Architect - HOK Sports Group of the existing Texas Rangers facility.  Project scope included re-work and expansion of 6,500 seat stadium, new major league field with 1,000 capacity seating berm, outfield boardwalk and tiki bar, new concession area, and new corporate suites.  Stand alone 40,000 sq. ft. major league clubhouse/training facility along with upgrade and enhanced practice fields.

  • Design/Build project by Mathews/Taylor Construction, the "Events Center" is a pivotal project in the re-building of Punta Gorda after the devastation of Hurricane Charlie.  The 45,230 sq. ft. facility provides the citizens of Charlotte County with a state of the art convention and event center.  The design building team worked with FEMA to obtain a letter of map revision so the facility could take advantage of the waterfront location.  Featuring almost 20,000 sq. ft of multi purpose area with seating capacity up to 2,100, the facility also provides four separate break out rooms and a full commercial kitchen, theatrical stage rigging and lighting, dressing rooms, and grand concourse inside with multiple outdoor patios, river front lawn space and harbor walks.  The facility is designed to withstand winds of 150 mph and is constructed of structural steel, concrete tilt walls, and fibertight roof system with metal barrel tile accenting.

  • Meeting the stringent City of North Port design guideline standards, the 9,105 sq. ft building provides additional office and distribution space for the Suncoast Media Group’s family of daily and weekly newspapers and magazines.

Arcade Expansion

  • 2,000 sq. ft. addition to the Smith Arcade building which is on the National Register of Historic Buildings.  The addition allowed for expansion of state offices who occupy a portion of the building.

  • Design Build project by Mathews/Taylor Construction hurricane hardened and designed to Miami Dade standards for critical facilities (146 mph with 1.15 importance factor).  Facility is approximately 6,400 sq. ft. and includes living quarters for eight firefighters/paramedics, three man radio room, commercial kitchen, laundry, 100 KW emergency generator and apparatus bays for four units.

  • The fire station was completed under a design build contract with Mathews/Taylor Construction for the City of Punta Gorda.  The 6,200 sq. ft. facility is capable of self sustained operations of equipment and personnel for five days without re-fueling in the event of a major storm event.  The structure is designed to withstand the most severe hurricane force winds and serves the south end of the City.

  • Design/Build Project by Mathews/Taylor Construction is an adaptation of Charlotte County "Prototype" Fire Stations that are 6,400 sq. ft. and house up to 4 pieces of fire fighting equipment and the required fire fighters.  In the wake of Hurricane Charlie, these stations are being constructed to meet elevated wind speed and impact requirements.
