Charlotte County Fire Station #12

The existing Fire Station 12 was severely damaged by Hurricane Charlie to the extent that the entire roof system was lifted and set down on the west side of I-75 some +500' away. Station 12 is the largest of the Charlotte County Fire Stations which houses eight Fire/EMT personnel plus one lieutenant and up to seven emergency vehicles. Station 12 is also home for the Charlotte County “Hazardous Materials” Team. The Re-Design & Build project by Mathews/Taylor Construction was one of 150 “Hurricane” projects completed for Charlotte County over a three year period.
Crossroads Wilderness Center Kitchen / Dining Building

Construction of new 2,300 sq. ft. free standing full service commercial kitchen and dining hall building. The building replaces the previous one that was destroyed by fire. Construction took place without disruption to the ongoing juvenile justice operations and security procedures were maintained without incident at all times.

Facility is approximately 6,000 sq. ft. and includes living quarters for eight firefighters/paramedics, three man radio room, commercial kitchen, laundry, 100 KW emergency generator and apparatus bays for four units.

Design Build project by Mathews/Taylor Construction designed to withstand 175 MPH winds. The two story, 30,000 sq. ft. building houses Charlotte County Fire/EMS headquarters, Charlotte County EOC, Human Services hotline and backup 911 operator consoles. The facility has backup redundant mechanical and electrical systems with complete UPS power protection and 750 KVA generator. Design Build project by Mathews/Taylor Construction hurricane hardened and designed to Miami Dade standards for critical facilities (146 mph with 1.15 importance factor). The 20,000 sq. ft. facility is constructed using tilt-wall construction and includes 100% back-up generator capabilities, overhead bridge crane, diesel fueling facilities, and fire pump certification test area.

Design Build project for Charlotte County by Mathews/Taylor Construction to combine and replace two of the eight buildings destroyed by Hurricane Charlie at the Florida Street Public Works campus. The building is approximately 8,100 sq. ft. and is constructed using CBS, wood truss and metal standing seam roof system.

This project was completed by Mathews/Taylor Construction for the City of Punta Gorda. Mathews/Taylor Construction completed this building in less than four months. The building is more than twice the size of the former facility destroyed by hurricane Charlie and features concessions, meeting room, park office, restrooms, and equipment storage.

The 5,300 sq. ft. addition was added to the existing facility originally built by Taylor Contractors of Florida years earlier. More than doubling the size of the facility, Taylor Contractors of Florida added a full service commercial kitchen, food prep area, large pantry and dinning room along with improvements and re-work of the support area’s for the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition. A Mathews/Taylor Construction project for the construction of a 150 acre regional park including three lighted and irrigated football fields, 25 meter competition swimming pool, bathhouse, basketball courts, nature trails, boardwalks, lakes, and related parking, storm water, and utilities. The park also features a state of the art skate park (both inline & boards) with bowls, jumps, ramps, rails, and tabletops.

Construction of 7,000 sq. ft. bank building with three teller lanes. The facility features elaborate interior wood stained finishes and is equipped with an emergency power supply. This project was one of the first to meet the newly implemented commercial design standards in the City of Punta Gorda.

Constructed as a temporary shelter for the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition the 8,400 sq. ft. facility features separate bunk rooms for men and women as well as four individual motel type suites for families. At full capacity to building can house over sixty persons with food and other needs provided at the adjacent Genesis Center.
Calusa National Bank

Construction of 5,500 sq. ft. bank building with three teller lanes located on US-41 in Murdock, Florida. The facility features custom colored storefront framing and glass at both the exterior and interior of the building. The combination of generous amounts of interior glass and high open ceilings provide a refreshing welcoming environment to both the employees and customers. This project was one of the first to meet the newly implemented Charlotte County US-41 Corridor Commercial Design Standards.

Construction of a 14,000 sq. ft., two story bank building with three teller lanes. The facility uses a combination of painted structural steel, brick veneer & cement plaster accent walls, exterior second floor balconies and colored standing seam roof provide dramatic curb appeal. The exterior look is carried into the entry vestibule and main bank lobby.
